If you are a beginner, then go for the 600, the blades are cheaper, and compering fuel cost I get 2 flight on my 600 compeared to 1 on the 700 for the same amount of fuel.I find the 700 to be quicker on cyclic control than the 600 and would soot a beginner better cost wise.but if you have the money get both

EDF Ducted Fan Unit 6Blade 2.75inch 70mm
Blade Diameter: 70mm / 2.75inchBlade Type: 6Shaft Size: 3mm
Made from high strength reinforced plastic.Recomended Motor: This fan will take up to a 28mm diameter motor.(see related items)
The motor got hot without a prop because the motor needs the airflow from the prop for cooling, as does the ESC and battery. Not a good idea to run them without a prop.
Wayne is correct about the wattmeter, it will be the most important tool in your toolbox when setting up electric power systems.
Also, that prop is too large for a 1700Kv motor on 4S. The motor is going to try to turn it at over 25,000 RPM. The motor's amperage draw goes up substantially if too large a prop is run.
Save yourself[...]
That is the prop washer. You put the prop on the motor shaft, then the washer, then the nut. The flat side of the wsher goes towards the prop, the rounded side to the nut. The washer is there to distribute the holding force of the nut across the whole prop hub.speedy72vega2010-03-18 01:28:43
